Discover Chick Chick

Walking into Chick Chick for the first time felt like stumbling onto a neighborhood secret that everyone somehow already knew. Tucked along the Upper West Side at 618 Amsterdam Ave, New York, NY 10024, United States, the place hums with a steady flow of locals grabbing lunch, families settling in for dinner, and late-night wanderers chasing comfort food. I stopped by after a long workday, and within minutes it was clear why so many reviews mention consistency and value in the same breath.

The menu keeps things refreshingly straightforward while still offering plenty of choice. Rotisserie chicken anchors the lineup, slowly turning behind the counter, with that unmistakable aroma drifting through the dining room. The first bite delivered exactly what fans describe as crispy skin and juicy meat, and that balance is harder to pull off than it sounds. According to food science research from the USDA, proper rotisserie cooking relies on even heat distribution and steady rotation to retain moisture while rendering fat, and you can tell the kitchen here respects that process. Sides like seasoned fries, coleslaw, and rice aren’t afterthoughts; they’re clearly tested to stand up to the main attraction.

What impressed me most was how adaptable the menu feels for different kinds of diners. On one visit, I watched a nearby table split a whole chicken with sides, while another customer ordered a chicken sandwich to go, customized with sauces and toppings. That flexibility matters. Consumer dining studies from the National Restaurant Association consistently show that diners value customization and speed just as much as flavor, especially in urban neighborhoods. Chick Chick seems built around that insight, without making it feel corporate or forced.

From a practical standpoint, the location works in its favor. Amsterdam Avenue is busy, but the space inside never feels rushed. Seating is casual, and the staff moves efficiently while still checking in. On my second visit, I asked about how they keep the chicken consistent throughout the day, and a team member explained the staggered cooking schedule. Fresh batches rotate through at regular intervals, which helps explain why the texture holds up even during peak hours. That kind of transparency builds trust, and it’s something diners often point out in online reviews.

Price is another reason this spot gets repeat business. In a city where dining costs can climb fast, Chick Chick lands in a comfortable middle ground. You’re paying for quality ingredients and solid portions, not frills. Industry data from the Bureau of Labor Statistics shows that restaurant prices in New York have risen steadily over the past few years, yet places that focus on a tight concept and efficient prep tend to hold value better. This diner-style setup benefits from that approach.

Of course, no restaurant is perfect. During very busy hours, wait times can stretch a bit, and seating may feel tight. That’s the trade-off for popularity in a dense neighborhood. Still, orders remain accurate, and the food quality doesn’t dip, which matters more in the long run. Based on multiple visits and conversations with other regulars, consistency seems to be the defining trait here.

Chick Chick fits comfortably into the Upper West Side dining scene by doing one thing well and respecting the details. It’s the kind of place you recommend without hesitation, whether someone’s asking for a quick meal, a reliable dinner spot, or just really good chicken prepared with care.

  • Chick Chick delivers a mouthwatering fried chicken experience that goes beyond expectations, both in flavor and service. The Nashville fried chicken sandwich was a highlight, crispy, juicy, and perfectly spiced, nestled in a soft, buttery bun with creamy slaw that tied it all together. The chicken and waffles brought a delightful balance of sweet and savory, with golden, fluffy waffles and crunchy, well-seasoned chicken. The truffle fries were crisp and addictive, with just the right hint of truffle oil to elevate them without overpowering. The fried chicken and mac n cheese combo was pure comfort food bliss, featuring creamy, cheesy pasta paired with more of their signature crispy chicken. On top of the fantastic food, the service was incredible, friendly, fast, and genuinely attentive, making the whole dining experience feel warm and welcoming. Chick Chick is a must-visit for anyone who loves bold flavors, hearty portions, and top-notch hospitality.

  • Crispy saucy delicious chicken and sides. Stopped in randomly and got myself a half chicken with gochujang sauce paired with a crunchy pickle. The sauce and crunchy breading on the chicken was delicious and the chicken was flavorful. Wasn’t thee most tender chicken but it was still great. The street corn was pretty good and easy to eat. The kimchi slaw was really incredible especially pairing a bite with the chicken. Sooo good.

  • I visited this restaurant for an early dinner with friends, and it was fantastic. The flavors were incredible, and the portion sizes were just right. Our group of four decided to share one of the family platters, and it was more than enough to satisfy everyone, with some leftovers to spare. The platter featured a whole chicken, ten chicken tenders, and three generous sides. We found ourselves needing to make an effort to finish it all! We enjoyed three sauces with the chicken: soy garlic, hot honey, and Nashville hot, all of which were delicious. The side dishes also impressed us; we had mac & cheese, truffle parmesan fries, and buttery bread. I can’t wait to return!

  • only discovered this place because the restaurant we meant to go to was full for Father's Day. I'm really glad we decided to go in, because the food was absolutely delicious. I'm usually not a kimchi fan, but the kimchi mac & cheese was great. the sweet & spicy crispy waffle chicken sandwich was also amazing. my only complaint was that the music was a bit loud, but it was tolerable since the food was so good. definitely want to go back next time we're in the area.

  • Food is tasty, remember to try the Tennessee dry rub if you're getting wings. My favorite. Also the Truffle rice but they tend to run out of it. One main complaint is that the place is tiny so very limited (uncomfortable) seating. But the food is great.

  • Chick chick was a seriously fantastic place to eat. Its in the city, Upper West Side, so parking is on the street and its close to public transit. The service was friendly, quick and knowledgeable and the food....... oh goodness, the food. I wanted to try every single thing, literally. I would have been thrilled to have that ability.. what I did eat was absolutely incredible and the pictures are attached. The chicken bites had these amazing pops of spice and flavor, and the waffle chicken sandwich looked as good as it tasted; each bite was simply delicious. Next time, and believe me, there will be a next time, I'm simply going to use the menu as a food check list! 10/10 highly recommend!
